University of Cambridge Extends Application Deadline For The Cambridge-Ukraine Studentships

The University of Cambridge extended the application deadline for the Cambridge-Ukraine Studentships until February 28, 2011 due to applicants’ massive response. The Cambridge-Ukraine Studentships provide financial support to Ukrainian students looking to study at the University of Cambridge.

«The University of Cambridge has been delighted by the response from Ukrainian students to the Cambridge-Ukraine Studentships initiative. We have received a great many enquiries from potential applicants with various questions, suggestions and the very best wishes», – explained Dr. Emma Widdis, Head of the Department of Slavonic Studies at the University of Cambridge. «Due to an enormous number of requests, we took this extraordinary decision to extend the deadline to February 28, in order to ensure that as many applicants as possible have sufficient time to get the requisite papers together», added Dr. Widdis who also heads the Cambridge-Ukraine Studentships selection committee.

The Cambridge-Ukraine Studentships was established in 2010 on initiative and with financial support from a Ukrainian businessman Mr. Dmitry Firtash. The purpose of the program is to finance the cost of Cambridge education of the most talented Ukrainian students who otherwise cannot afford to study there. This year the studentships will be granted to five students admitted to the University of Cambridge and studying on one of the 50 available postgraduate courses in 2011-12. Some courses have their own specific deadlines. Applicants should check the relevant information on the University of Cambridge website to see which courses are still available.
