Ukraine Boasts Unique Investment Potential
Being one of Europe’s largest markets, Ukraine is among most attractive investments targets and can, in a short term, become one the major centers of economic growth in the region, said Mr. Dmitry Firtash at a roundtable discussion titled “Discover Investment Opportunities of Ukraine Along With Ukrainian Employers”.Mr. Firtash laid particular emphasis on Ukraine’s engineering, chemical industry, metallurgy and agriculture as sectors capable of featuring the highest growth rates and being most promising for investment.
He also pointed out that 25 % of the world’s and 75 % of Europe’s black soil reserves are concentrated in Ukraine which creates unique prerequisites for it to become a global leader in food production and supplies. “Our country is capable of playing a key role in achieving a millennium development goal – fighting starvation on the planet,” projected Mr. Firtash. He also stressed that the existing risks appear acceptable vis-à-vis potential returns.
The roundtable that was organized as part of the program of the Unification Congress of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine gathered business people, diplomats and representatives of employers’ organizations from over 20 countries – some most influential economies like the UK, France, Russia and others.
NOTE
In September of 2011, speaking at the European Conference of Employers in Tel-Aviv, Mr. Firtash pointed out indisputable economic edges of Ukraine. In addition to having the largest territory and the fifth largest population (45 million citizens) in Europe, Ukraine has extremely advantageous geographical position allowing it to export products directly to regions with the total population of over 1 billion people.
