The Annual Festival Of Ukrainian Cinema Took Place At Cambridge
On November 6 and 7, 2015, the 8-th annual festival of the Ukrainian cinema took place within the Program of the Ukrainian Studies at Cambridge University founded by the charity fund Firtash Foundation of Dmitry and Lada Firtash. This year the films of the modern Ukrainian film directors such as Ekaterina Gornostay, Svetlana Shimko, Ostap Kostiuk and others, have been demonstrated to the audience. The films in Ukrainian and Russian were accompanied with English subtitles. The shows were held at Winstanley theatre, Trinity College.
The festival of the Ukrainian cinema has taken place annually at Cambridge University since 2008 and demonstrated the best Ukrainian films since the birth of the Ukrainian filmmaking till nowadays. A selection of powerful new documentary produced by the Ukrainian filmmakers was presented at the 8- th year of the festival. Anyone, who registered on website of the Ukrainian Studies Program, could see the movie for free.
The festival of the Ukrainian cinema is one of the events enlisted in the Ukrainian Studies Program at Cambridge University. Founded thanks to the financial support of the charity fund Firtash Foundation, the Ukrainian Studies Program at Cambridge University includes various events, such as exhibitions of the Ukrainian artists, Ukrainian literary evenings, and the festival of the Ukrainian cinema. Leading researchers of Ukraine worldwide are invited to the University, who conduct lectures and seminars on the most urgent topics in history and modern times of Ukraine.

Firtash Foundation is a family charity fund established by Dmitry and Lada Firtash with the aim of long- term and systemic support for Ukrainian culture, fostering creative potential of the Ukrainian youth, spreading education. The spheres of activity include improvement of the general perception of Ukraine abroad, forming a positive image of our country in the world, facilitation of Ukrainian art development, showcasing the works of Ukrainian masters abroad, and systemic support for projects in education, Ukrainian historical and cultural studies.
