Economy and Infrastructure Modernization Should Be Started With Donbass

The program for restoration and development of Donetsk and Lugansk regions should evaluate into a comprehensive national project on Ukrainian economy and infrastructure modernization. This was declared in the statement of the President of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine Dmitry Firtash.
 
"The Federation of Employers of Ukraine as a social partner of the Government of Ukraine is ready to take an active part in development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for Donbass restoration. The FEU has consolidated resources of the Ukrainian business, and the pool of construction, logistics, transport, engineering, and finance companies that can offer a complete solution to restore and modernize the region can be formed as soon as possible", this was stressed in Dmitry Firtash’s statement.
 
The FEU President noted that the Donetsk and Luhansk regions could become the pilot areas to implement large-scale program for construction of affordable housing, thermo modernization, reforming water supply, implementation of energy saving and environmental technologies, building quality roads and infrastructure.
 
Dmitry Firtash said that Ukrainian companies had been involved in the infrastructure restoration projects in Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Africa, South America, including restorations after natural disasters and military operations. "This experience should be used in Ukraine", was declared in the statement.

It is noted that the development of small and medium sized businesses was critically needed in Donbass. "40% of all Ukrainian mono-function cities, where the economy depends on one or three large companies, are located in Lugansk and Donetsk regions. Small and medium enterprises will in a relatively short time solve the problem of employment and change the structure of the regional economy, as the cost per job in a small business is ten times less than at large industrial enterprises", was noted in the statement.
 
Dmitry Firtash said that to support SME the Federation of Employers proposed to implement tax holidays, quotas for small enterprises in public procurement, to reduce number of inspections by the authorities and to ensure access of entrepreneurs to national and international concessional financing programs.
 
"Federation of Employers of Ukraine supports the initiative of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to attract the international community for an early economic recovery of Donbass. Along with the international negotiations conducted by the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to provide donor support to Ukraine, on behalf of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, I am carrying on a dialogue with the FEU European partners ​​on investments in Ukraine, creation of a business support fund, speedy implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU and Ukrainian products accessing to the European markets", was noted in the statement of the FEU President Dmitry Firtash.
